I will definitely visit Germany again See how young Brits discover Cologne and Bonn Germans really do like their sausages but they are also brilliant at speaking English. This is just one of the findings of the participants of the second youth trip to Germany organised by the German National Tourist Office (GNTO) and UK-German Connection as part of their Discover Germany! programme. After a successful first trip to Berlin last year, 15 students from 15 different schools in the UK and Ireland travelled to Cologne and Bonn this July to get to know these destinations from a young people’s point of view.
Tim Kretschmer, a German teenager dressed in black combat gear, entered the Albertville secondary school, north of Stuttgart, and went on a gun rampage killing nine students and three teachers. He then fled the school in Winnenden, south-west Germany, but shot himself dead after being cornered by police. Al Jazeera’s Mark Seddon reports from the scene.
